UIW 2019 Adopt-A-Beach Cleanup
Saturday, August 10, 2019
Attention all UIW alumni, parents, students & friends! The UIW Department of Alumni & Parent Relations along with the Ettling Center for Civic Leadership would like to invite you to a wonderful Summer event!
We will be participating in a beach cleanup at Mustang Island State Park from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. and then making our way to our Alumni & Parent Mixer at MacDaddy's Family Kitchen in Port Aransas!
See below for a few FAQ's:
What should I wear to the cleanup?
You should wear sturdy shoes. No open toed shoes, sunglasses and a hat. Please also consider a high-SPF sunscreen and bug repellant just in case.
Do I need to bring my own supplies?
You will be provided with trash bags and non-latex gloves to clean the beach. You will also receive data cards and pencils to track the type of trash you are removing from the beach.
Do I need to bring my own water?
Yes, please bring plenty of drinking water, especially if children will be joining you at the cleanup. Appetizers at MacDaddy's will be provided to you at the Alumni & Parent Mixer after the cleanup.
Will there be transportation from UIW to Mustang Island State Park?
UIW transportation will only be available to UIW current students. Alumni, parents and friends will need to either make carpool arrangements or drive on their own.
Do I need to pay for a parking permit or entrance fee to the beach?
You should not have to purchase a permit or pay an entrance fee. If you are asked to pay - show your data card and clean up supplies as proof you are there to clean the beach.
