    Jackie Velez '19

    As a board operator for the Texas Public Radio (TPR), Jackie Velez ‘19 thrives on the constant opportunities she is given to hone her skills and expertise in the world of public radio broadcasting. Whether it is writing draft posts for the topics discussed on the station’s daily call-in show, “The Source,” cutting pieces of audio from guests’ interviews or voicing radio spots of her own, Velez continues to grow and establish herself as a valuable member of TPR’s team of professionals.

    Annie Sustaita '19

    Serving as a board member of the UIW Alumni Association has given Annie Sustaita ‘19 the opportunity to give back to the University in a unique way. 

    Sustaita, who graduated in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Development, serves on the association’s social and community service committee. In this role, she seeks to create meaningful service opportunities for her fellow Cardinals -- something she has been familiar with since her time as a student.

    Mariana Barron Esper '19

    Mariana Barron Esper '19 is an up-and-coming singer and songwriter whose original pieces such as City of Lights 2.0 are slowly capturing the hearts of many. Recently, she wrote and produced Verdad, a piece for the international song competition “Rag Ball,” sponsored by Scholas Ocurrentes, a worldwide network of schools promoted by Pope Francis. In this competition, her original song was selected as one of four worldwide finalists.Barron Esper earned both a Bachelor of Arts in Music and a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs in 2019

    Johnathan Cuevas '12

    Joining the UIW Alumni Association Board of Directors in 2020, Dr. Johnathan Cuevas, PharmD ‘11 cemented himself as a passionate board member who continually promotes and lives the mission of the University of the Incarnate Word.

    Currently serving as a Medication Therapy Management Coordinator and Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the Feik School of Pharmacy, Dr. Cuevas remains inspired by the experience he had as a student, which now carries over to his position on the alumni association board.

    Linda Calvert Jacobson '90

    Linda Calvert Jacobson, BA ‘90, a Floresville artist known for her unique painting style, was one of those kids who started drawing as soon as she could hold a crayon and never stopped from that moment on. Her love for art would eventually turn into what is known today as Wildflower Art Gallery, the name of the art gallery she and her husband opened in Wimberley, Texas in 2015.

    Garcia, a 2006 MBA graduate, is currently working for Visa, the largest multinational financial services corporation in the world. The didital payment giant recently promoted him to vice president of third party tech management. Garcia shared with us how his MBA education and experience at the University of the Incarnate Word prepared him for professional challenges he would encounter in his career.

    Darlene Jasso '15

    New Braunfels native Darlene Jasso Mendoza graduated from UIW in May 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication with a concentration in Journalism. One year after walking the stage, a new chapter of her life began as she moved to Guatemala – the place where she met her husband while studying abroad as a Cardinal.

    Caroline Ortiz '95

    Garcia Nursing alumna leads the way in Spanish guided imagery meditation audios during Covid-19 pandemic. Wanting to make a difference, Ortiz took on a project involving the translation of guided imagery meditations and affirmations specifically geared to Spanish-speaking frontline workers and affected communities.

    Alejandro Flores '11

    Inspired by his Catholic faith and the constant yearning to serve as a role model for students, Alejandro Flores ‘11 lives his vocation as an educator seeking to inspire and guide the next generation of leaders. Flores, who serves as Spanish teacher at St. Anthony Catholic High School, graduated from the University of the Incarnate Word in 2011 with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Spanish.

    Jessica Davila ‘05, ‘06 was recently nominated for the 2021 Businesswoman of the Year award by the Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce. Davila, who holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in Organizational Development, owns and operates JDB Public Relations and Executive Coaching which offers its clients public relations and media communications support.

UIW Alumni Association Board Member Gina Gonzalez, who earned a Bachelor of Arts  shares how her experience at Incarnate Word impacted her unique journey. Gonzalez joined the Alumni Association Board of Directors in 2019 and since day one has demonstrated passion and dedication to UIW.
