“Women of Bible Lands” Book Discussions | Holy Land Pilgrimage

Starting in September 2022, Sr. Martha Ann Kirk, CCVI will lead discussions about her book "Women of Bible Lands" on campus with virtual participation options. In January 2023, guests can also join Sr. Martha Ann on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land.

University of the Incarnate Word alumni, friends and students, are invited to join bi-weekly discussions on Women of Bible Lands: a Pilgrimage to Compassion and Wisdom, a unique book of stories about Jewish, Muslim, and Christian women associated with places of Biblical significance.

Starting in September 2022, Sr. Martha Ann Kirk, author of the book and UIW faculty emeritus, will lead the discussions on the UIW Broadway campus. Those unable to attend in person may participate on Zoom. In January 2023, participants can also join a pilgrimage to the Holy Land.

“Hakimah” which translates to "wise women", is a two-week program at the Tantur Ecumenical Institute (TEI) between Jerusalem and Bethlehem. The program will explore the role of women in Jewish, Christian, and Muslim texts and traditions via "text study, excursions, encounters with local women, and group discussion" according to the TEI website. All religions and genders are welcome.

Participants will also discover how women in the Holy Land continue to contribute to the cultural, political and spiritual realities in which they live. A peaceful world grows one friendship at a time.
